Fisetin as a pure ingredient or purified extract does not have a history of food use, so is considered a Novel Food. Most extracts are from Smoke Tree (Cotinus coggygria), which would also be Novel, if they are highly purified as above. It does occur naturally in strawberries but only in microgram amounts. The bark, leaf and flowers of Smoke Tree are not considered Novel in food supplements.
